Harry

Before I went to Europe this summer, I told Abby, my Harry Potter CRAZED child, that I would read all of the books upon my return. The night I got back, she handed me book one. It has pretty much ruined my life since then but I finally finished the last book last night. I read the first book when it came out years ago but it didn't captivate me like it did this time. I won't pretend that I understood it all (esp. at the end - the wands' cores? Harry "dying" so Voldemort could be killed? ....right over my head) but that stuff didn't ruin it at all for me.

I've always thought, "Ya, that's great that J.K. Rowling could write this and make a ton of money when she was in dire straits before, etc. etc." Let me just say, I have a whole new respect for this woman. The creativity going on here is incredible. And for over 4000 pages!

So, yes, I am glad I read Harry Potter. Great story and I'm glad I can understand better what my daughter is talking about.

Now, trying to understand Dr. Who? That's a problem.

When you don't have cable TV, you watch a lot of Dr. Who. I still don't get it.

I loved the first 3 Harry Potter books that I read! Somewhere along the line, I got busy and forgot how good they were. Good job Abby for motivating your mom to read them. They will be on the list of "if you are a smart person you have read them" books one day. ;)
