You know you're in Germany when...

The boat offers a lot of different paid excursions in each port. Some are better than others.
My mom and I felt that we're "savvy" enough that we can maneuver on our own - especially in Germany (she is fluent). We did, however, opt for the ship-sponsored transportation INTO Berlin. We docked in Warnemunde which is on the coast, took the train 3 hours (each way) into the main train station and then bussed into the heart of the city. It worked out really way. The German countryside, seen from the train, is gorgeous.

The bus dropped us off right near this chocolate shop which was pret-ty dangerous if I do say so myself. But my word, if you can't enjoy German chocolate, then what CAN you enjoy?

They had all of these fabulous sculptures of Berlin monuments in chocolate.
Above is the Karl Wilhelm Memorial Church that was bombed during WWII and the spire has been left that way.
Below is, I assume, the world. :)

Above is the Brandenburg Gate and below is the Reichstag or the main government buildings.
