Stockholm

We had about five hours in Stockholm before we had to turn back towards home/Copenhagen.
We did get a few lovely shots of the city before the rain came.

Above: Putting up the Swedish flag for the day.
Below: Ferries ready for action. Stockholm is made up of 14 islands - to say nothing of the rest of Sweden.
Thor is guarding one of the bridges.

Our big outing was to the Vasa Museum.
This holds a ship that was commissioned by the king and sailed for all of 20 minutes before it sank. Sad!
It was 300 years before they pulled it up and built a museum for it.
Very interesting.

These are the colors they used.
This is what some of the painting would have looked like.

300 years underwater is not good for paint.
Amazing detail.
This is the Stockholm City Hall.
These crowns on top are as big as VW bugs - each.

I would love to go back someday and do some more exploring.

This is the map of the ship's route. We were surprised that Stockholm to Copenhagen was the longest leg of the journey. You can see Bornholm off the very Southern tip of Sweden if you look really hard. The island to the East of Sweden is Gotland - part of Sweden.
