Church of the Spilled Blood

Church of our Savior on the Spilled Blood (most people call it Church of the Spilled Blood)
was THE iconic Russian church to see. The bright colors, the onion domes.
This was built in honor of Tsar Alexander II who was killed on this spot.
This canopy was, apparently, where he was killed.

The natural light coming into the altar was amazing.
Can you say miles and miles of mosaics?
A view from outside the Cathedral.

This is a typical decoration of a bride & groom's vehicle.
That was our mini-bus for the two days.
Yipee for air conditioning!
