This is the Holocaust Memorial that was completed in 2005.
I wish I'd had more street food.
But I didn't.

One way to see the city.
The Brandenburg Gate.
The front of the Reichstag - Germany's parliament.
There was a row of these slats with names on them.
Jews and members of parliament who perished during the Holocaust.

Mom's German is coming in handy.
The Nazis held a book-burning here, in front of Humboldt University.
There is now this underground memorial - a library with empty shelves.

This is an interesting story:
"The East" - meaning the communist forces - wanted to build something that the West could see. To prove that they could build something really tall. So they built this humongous TV tower. Remember, they were trying to steer their subjects away from the "crutch" of religion. But when the sun hits it just right, you can see a cross reflected off of the tower.
So they call this "The Pope's Revenge".
Can you see the two crosses in the photo?
The other is from the Berlin Cathedral.

Methinks it's brighter/more obvious with more sun.
We were lucky to get the sun we did that day.
